Moments in My Journey

Enso Sculptures at Canyon Ranch, Lenox, MA

For Canyon Ranch, I created Moments in My Journey series of ensos specific for both the environment and its guests. My invitation to install Enso sculptures began with exploration and observations. The courtyard environment was offered as a setting. The interaction of landscapes and architecture, and how light creates different scenarios throughout the day, introduces a perfect setting for sculpture. The pathways guests travel with seating to relax, socialize or contemplate, and instructional sessions on the lawns, all add to a wonderful energy.

Throughout the day, guests often revisit the environment. Visually, from all vantage points as they walk through interior spaces. Physically, as they meander through the exterior walks and pathways. Celebrating the diversity of visuals and use of the space, I saw an opportunity to contribute to the courtyard environment. By thinking along the lines of human scale and interaction, the sculptures evoke an ever-changing dialogue with individuals, natural and man-made environments.
